GOLD

Last week was up there in the most terrible weeks I've had in recent memory. So - naturally - I decided to make something completely over the top which couldn't fail but to cheer me up.

Never let it be said that I'm a minimalist, and this bespoke saddle cover was absolutely no exception. If it doesn't give you a headache...I'm out!

I've had this amazing gold glitter fabric knocking around for a while and have been wondering how best to use it. It's quite thick and heavy and I actually thought it might be too rigid for a saddle cover, but wanted to give it a go and to see what would happen. Of course I could have demonstrated a modicum of restraint with the lining colour (black or navy, for example), but no - not me. I went for pink because, frankly, I'm already at home...so I had to go big.

I'm ecstatic with how it turned out and am going to make a matching bridle bag from the same fabric next.

If you're in my camp and want everything to be glitter-strewn, hit me up and I might just have enough fabric left to make a couple like this.

Price should be over £100 each because the fabric to buy again will be around £30 a metre, but this has lifted my spirits so much that I can make another one or two for a supremely-bargainous mere £75!
